Spend more than twenty years inside this industry and you stop being surprised by the same three moments. The panel that arrives looking finished and fails inspection on the details nobody photographed. The coordination study delivered as a PDF nobody applied, discovered only when a fault takes down the main incomer instead of one feeder. And the handover file so thin that two years later, at two in the morning, a facility engineer is standing in front of a tripped board with no settings record, no as-built and no phone number that answers.
None of these are dramatic failures. They are quiet ones. They cost programmes weeks, owners millions and engineers their sleep, and the industry has learned to treat them as normal.
HIKS STAR was founded in Dubai by engineers who have spent over twenty years on every side of this business - in the panel builder's workshop, on the contractor's programme, at the client's review table, and inside the OEM's product organisation. We have sat in every one of those seats, inherited every one of those failures, and know exactly what each side needs and never gets: the contractor needs a quotation that holds and a delivery date that is real; the consultant needs evidence, not assurances; the client needs an asset with a memory; the OEM needs its components applied the way they were engineered to be. This company was built so that the problem each side faces is finally resolved in one place.
Here, the person who quotes your panel is the engineer accountable for it. The study is done to protect your network rather than satisfy a submittal log. And the documentation is treated as part of the product, because when the panel is twenty years old, the documentation is the product.
That belief produces four commitments no other panel assembler in the Middle East puts in writing:
Every panel we build carries a QR code on its door linked to its complete digital build record, approved drawings, busbar torque records, stage photographs, FAT results, breaker settings and as-builts. Any engineer who ever stands in front of that panel, for the life of the asset, scans and has everything. No other assembler in the region hands over its work this way.
Send a complete SLD and BOQ and an engineer, not a sales inbox, returns a priced, engineered quotation within two working days, including any risks we can already see in your design. We answer fast because the person answering doesn't need to ask anyone.
If a panel we build is rejected at consultant inspection for workmanship against the approved drawings and agreed standard, we correct it at our cost and on our programme risk. We can offer this because our internal inspection is harsher than yours.
After handover you don't call a call centre. You call the engineer whose signature is on your FAT dossier, and because of the Panel Passport, whoever answers sees your panel's full history before you finish your first sentence.
We are deliberately founder-led and deliberately narrow: LV switchgear, power studies, automation and testing. Nothing else. Depth is the whole point, the GCC has enough companies that do everything adequately. It needed one that does this completely.
Every HIKS STAR assembly moves through a formal Inspection & Test Plan (ITP). Stages marked HOLD stop the build until inspection is passed and signed; stages marked WITNESS are open to your consultant or representative. Each signed stage, with its photographs, is filed into the panel's digital record, the same record the Panel Passport later exposes on the panel door.
| Stage | Activity & acceptance basis | Point |
|---|---|---|
| ITP-1 | Document review, approved drawings, load schedule and project specification frozen; deviations closed before material order. | HOLD |
| ITP-2 | Material receipt, breakers, busbar and components checked against BOM, ratings and OEM certificates; serials logged. | HOLD |
| ITP-3 | Fabrication & chassis, enclosure dimensions, form-of-separation barriers, earth continuity of structure. | WITNESS |
| ITP-4 | Busbar installation, clearances and creepage to IEC 61439 Table values; every joint torqued to OEM figures and torque-marked; records filed. | HOLD |
| ITP-5 | Wiring & devices, point-to-point check against schematics; ferrule numbers verified; segregation of control and power. | HOLD |
| ITP-6 | Pre-FAT internal inspection, full routine-verification dry run by an engineer who did not build the panel. | HOLD |
| ITP-7 | Factory Acceptance Test, to the protocol agreed with your consultant; calibrated instruments with traceable certificates. | WITNESS |
| ITP-8 | Packing & dispatch, protection, lifting provisions, document pack and Panel Passport QR affixed and verified live. | WITNESS |
If any item is missing, the panel has not been handed over. That is the standard.
